Didn't we have a lovely time !!! I have had two visits to A&E last Thursday and again on Saturday (this one was by ambulance from the walk in centre). I was at Docs on Wednesday and explained I had woke up with itchy hands that spread up my arms across my body and down my legs, which she put down to an allergy and gave me anti histamines. Thursday afternoon I got a pain in my left shoulder and as the night went on the pain got worse and I couldn't move my shoulder – First trip to A&E. They said it was frozen shoulder and put a sling on and sent me home with instruction to ice it for two days and then apply heat. Friday I rested and apart from being in a lot of pain did nothing . Saturday Mark took me out for a drive and a bit fresh air, come Saturday afternoon I got the same pain in my right shoulder after about an hour I couldn't move that shoulder either – off we went to walk in centre – as I was getting chest pains they wouldn't let me go home and called an ambulance to take me to Rake Lane. Both ambulance and Hospital done ECG and blood pressure – ECG was OK – blood pressure a bit high, which dropped and they put down to the pain causing it to rise. Hospital took temp which was high and bloods showed I have infection. I found it amusing that I was unable to lift both arms and yet they were handing me medication and cups of water to take medication with lol. Mark had to pop the painkillers in my mouth and give me a drink of water. Then came the trying to get on the bed - can you lean over and use the rail to pull yourself up.. NO!!! Me to nurse "can you take reading and bloods from my left arm 'cause thats not so sore".. ignored and put blood pressure band on right arm causing me a lot of pain.. can you flex your arm nurse asked ?? – NO !! good job I didn't swear. Then came the bloods and the turning of the arm (screamed quietly) while nurse tried to put venflo in my hand, popping my vien and then turned to my left arm and said maybe I better try that arm, which he got first try and caused me very little pain. Results in and Doctor thought I had two frozen shoulders, but after talking to his consultant they said the was very unlikely and that it was muscular and more likely to be Polymyalgia rheumatica. I was to make an appointment to see doctor on monday so they could do further tests. On visiting doctors he agreed with hospital and gave me steroids which I must say are doing the job as I have more movement in my arms today, and with codine off hospital along with the paracetamol for temperature things are doing OK. Got a phone call off doc today to go in and see him to see how I was doing - got there and he mentioned he had called the Specialist who wanted to see me asap. Shock - wasnt expecting that!! and he may want me to go now. Had to go and wait in the waiting room while doc rang specialist again and then came back and said he wont see me today but it will be either tomorrow or thursday. All just precaution - better safe than sorry. I swear I have to laugh cause if I didn’t I would be crying and Ive done enough of that already.
