Lots of new things on the Horizon

I have be neglecting my blog so much lately there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day....

I have the pleasure of announcing that I have been accepted as DT (Design Team) for Get Creative, who have just started their first Challenge which is anything goes with an optional twist, which includes stitching.  Go and pop over and have a go, the sponsor is no other than Angies Digi's Stamps, and the winner will get to choose 3 of Angie's stamps.  What you waiting for GO ..... lol x
Good Luck to all those who enter.

Now then what else have I been up to !  well I have been working alongside some very creative people whom I have become really good friends with.  I love the work they do and how they have inspired me and helped me through what has been a bad year, I cannot thank them enough.

I would love it if you could pop over to their websites and have a look and give them a like, you never know you might just find that little something for xmas,  Personalised by Denise  which speaks for itself, Denise will personalise a vast range of garments, and in the not so long future will be able to more amazing things with her embroidery so keep watching her site.

Gail from Happy Planet Creative Arts is another one I thank for all her support, she does amazing things recycling woolen clothes and needle felting.  Gail also does Tyne Teds, which I know you will love reading about the antics of Kipper and Flossy.

Have a good weekend people despite the weather....

New Horizons - The Net North Shields

Hello every one

Its been quite some time since Ive written on my blog, naughty me.... it was however a case of priorities and putting family first.  Things (dare I say it) seem to have settled, so I am now able to spend some time on my
crafts, website and blog.

So whats new:

The biggest step I have taken is to try and open a little business of crafty things, but that also took a back seat for a while.

I am a volunteer at The Net North Shields, which is such a great place as it is all about the locals, the fishing industry, how it became and how it has transformed.  Come on down they would love to hear your stories and experiences of your visit to the quay.

There are a few events coming up and the first one is this weekend Sunday 26 October 2014 and it is about drawing and using your sense of smell and instincts to create a fantastic piece of work.

The Big Draw is the world’s biggest drawing festival, so why don't you bring the family along and create some masterpieces using the best viewing platform in the North East.

Local artist and fisherman Michael Smith will be on hand to show you how to take inspiration from the sights and smells of the Fish Quay to create your very own work of art.

Best of all, if your picture is given a top ranking then it will go into the first ever Net calendar, how sick is that...

I am enjoying my time at the Net and  it is good to be able to give back to the community.

I'll See You Again Lyrics Westlife

 photo signature_zps4c3189d2.png

One door closes another one opens....

Hello peeps

Well we had the news that the Fish Quay fair was closing and we have all had to move out.  So it is now a case of where do we go from here.

The good thing about the FQF was we could leave our stalls up and not have to hump our stuff every where.  So its back to the drawing board, to see what is next on the cards.

While this years has not been a good year in terms of family bereavements, and hitting brick walls with the business, it has not been a disastrous year.

I have met some really good people and some not so nice people, made some new friends, and had disagreements with others, but this is what is know as LIFE...

Setting up

Well its been quite a roller coaster just lately......

I needed to find a job that would work around my illness and the only way I could do this was to go self employed.

To say it is easy would be an understatement, it requires commitment, focus and hard work.

I am finding it hard to focus at the moment as we have had an unexpected family bereavement, in which another brother in law had passed away.

Right then - focus  -  and on we go ......

I love to make cards and colour with my alcohol markers, cutting things out with my silhouette and using my dies on my joy or big shot.  I am also an Independant trader for Phoenix Trading.

Well i was looking at ways to earn a bit extra income and didn't like the look or the sound of some of them, they didn't ring true or they were just too pushy.

I signed up for a couple of Affiliate programmes and am waiting patiently to see if anything comes from them, while looking at other avenues.

Having received an email about how easy it was to earn money on the web, I decided to look into this further, and followed the links, however it wasn't long before I realise this wasn't a good advert as it kept taking me around in circles.  One thing did come from it as I went to one of the sites that they referred and in a roundabout way came across Wealthy Affiliates.

Wealthy Affiliates is free and you get 2 websites and a great training regime, its brilliant for people with or without network knowledge.... dont believe me.. go and have a look for yourself, you've got nothing to lose except a few minutes of your time Wealthy Affiliates.

Let me know how you get on and what your thoughts are, positive, neutral or negative, it all helps.

Word Art

Well i've had a playful day yesterday, trying to get back into the crafting zone. I tried sewing machine and then threads kept going so I give up and went browsing.  I found out how to do Word Art as you can see from the Monster High skull, on the earlier post, it can be quite addictive lol.

Let me know if you would like one made and I'll see what I can do for you.  There will be a fee to cover card and postage.

I have has a little stall down at Biltons Crafters Alley based on the Fish Quay at North Shields, and they are a great bunch of characters, never a dull moment.  I have come away due to health issues and I am not able to justify the costs so I have had to rethink my strategy.

I have a little Amazon Craft Shop which you can view on here, if there is something not listed that you would like let me know and I will sort something out.

I am in the process of listing some of my items on EBay - eek quite nervous.

I have recently been told that I have Fibromyalgia which explains a lot of why i've been feeling the way I have  for such a long time....

The start of a new week...

Saying goodbye to loved ones is never easy, and more so when you see how many hearts that person has touched.

It was a long day, an emotional day, but the sun shone and the floods of memories came out and there was more laughter than tears, which Peter would be so pleased about.

We celebrated the life of Peter and not his passing as he will be remembered in the hearts and thoughts of many.

Inspiration has eluded me lately, and I have had no mojo to craft, but this is slowly coming back to me, thanks to my crafty friends.

I am out of my routine, but hope to get back in the stride of things shortly....What this space and hopefully you will see more new creations sooner rather than later.

Sadness falls on us again....

Morning peeps....

It seems a lifetime ago that I wrote on my blog, and it is with a heavy heart that I write today.  My brother in law, Peter, lost his battle with cancer a week ago today.  Mark (my husband), and myself went to see him at the Chapel of Rest yesterday, and I could not help but smile.  Anyone who knew Peter would know the cheeky grin that he would wear when you knew he was up to something, and thats what I saw.  Always the jester and liking a laugh, making people smile, it seemed appropriate that his fight ended on 1 April 2014.

Tomorrow we will say  goodbye to him as he joins his dad, brothers Paul and George and little sister Ann.

Biltons Craft Fair - North Shields Fish Quay

Biltons Craft Fair - What's in there! I hear you say.

Well..

There is car boot traders and No its not all tat,
The majority is descent as a matter of fact..

Upstairs there is Cards, card making and paper flowers on show
There are cupcakes, a quilter, and jewelry too,
Beads and accessories waiting for you.
Button Art, and clothing, both vintage and new,
Gem stones, sweeties, and soaps are there too
All of them waiting, just for you.

If your up for a challenge then into the Cafe you go
and see if you can beat the winner of the big breakfast... not to be eaten slow...

The weather is getting better and the fresh sea air does you good, go for a walk along the sand if you would.
Stoke up some memories of when you were bairns
Sliding down the bank top and running up the stairs, phew... couldnt do it now

There's no fishy smell like when we were bairns, it all just empty lonely and bare.
The view is to be gawped at as you look up the tyne, which was once full of industry, fishing and twine.

My thoughts would be, go on, go down and see, pop up the stairs, and amazed you will be..

Tell all your family, friends and colleagues... come down to Biltons, have a nice cup of tea.

So what do you say, come and jolly us up, with memories of past and a chin wag or two.   Wed, Sat and Sundays too...

Where has the time gone !!!

My poor blog has been sorely neglected, these past weeks, so I am taking a bit of time to give you all a quick update.

My two weeks course is now over and I feel like it has given me a lift, just to get out amongst people again has been a tonic.

My brother in law finally got his wish and is home with 24 hour care and it has given him a boost to be in his home environment,  and his wife can fuss over him all she wants.....

Taking a breath ....  so much to do and so little time to do it in lol ...

I have some new things happening on the horizon, which I hope will come to something... number 1 is that I will be back in crafters alley this weekend ...  excited !!!!

Aww look at the time got to go and take mam out and then off to crafty afternoon and getting some input, then pick little one up from school, then home ... take a breath and then carry on with sorting my plans out ....

Have a fantastic week people....

The group is great which was a bonus for me, helping me to relax and fit in, and the staff and Tutor have been supportive too.... big plus ...

I am now giving my head a rest...  no room at the inn haha....

Have a great week-end

Sunday 2 March 2014

Hello me lovelies

What a busy time I am having at the moment, with not much time for crafting.... :(

On the positive side my brother in law is still fighting the good fight and arrangements are being made to bring him home.

I have been actively looking for work, attending business seminars at the Business Factory, where I have met some new crafty people.

Last week was my birthday and this weekend hubbies so we have been celebrating but not in the alcoholic sense --- awww I hear you say --- don't worry I don't drink, and hubby didn't miss out on his bit alcoholic beverage, we enjoyed both our in our own way

I was invited by Gail to popped along to her studio @ Happy Planet Accessories, in North Shields, and was amazed at her talent with needle felting, she is also at Tynemouth Market on a Sunday - pop along.

Monday I was attending YMCA art and crafts with Emily Ward, who is very talented local artist, but due to other commitments haven't been able to go recently, but I am hoping to pop in again when I get some time, I can't thank Emily and her group enough as they helped me overcome some of my fears, allowing me to socialise in a small group again.

I am starting a two week course on Monday 3rd March for manufacturing and engineering, which I hope will help me, a bit further in going self employed in the craft market.

Miracles can happen ....

Morning all

Just have to share this amazing event.... to say we are happy is an understatement...

My brother in law has improved miraculously, while we all prepared for the worst, and his wife and son stayed with him all night every day, fearing the inevitable, he proved everyone wrong !!!  To say everyone was confused is an understatement!  We were all aware that cancer sufferers have their peaks and troughs, so while we were over the moon he was awake, he had no idea where he was or the fact he had cancer, the doctor said he could come home and he is having physio, eating and is out of bed all dressed, cant believe the difference from a week ago...

I have to say even when he was very ill with this septic chest infection he never lost his sense of humour.  He said he thought he would just lie down and go to sleep and never wake up, but it wasn't his time, he has another grandchild due to be born soon and i'm sure he wants to stay around for his birth, there are a lot of special birthdays this year too, and as he is a party animal, he couldn't possibly leave us just yet..  :)

We know he still has cancer and that the inevitable will happen, but not like this ... I know i'm waffling on but just so happy...

MIA

Afternoon, sorry i've been MIA my brother in law is in Palliative care unit as he has cancer and brain tumour so we have been spending most of our days with him at the hospital.  Everything is on hold for the moment xxxx

My sister in law wrote him a beautiful poem and asked if there was anything I could do with it....

I made a basket of flowers (designed by Tina Finch) in Black and White as he is a Newcastle United fan, I then made a little book in the shape of a heart and put the poem in the book.  I made it so the book can easily be detached and she can place it with her husband when the times comes and that way he is always holding her heart.
